The Colorado Genealogist (quarterly) Internet Resources for Colorado Research |
The Colorado Genealogical Society can provide only limited research services using Society volunteers, and provides these services to both members and non-members. The Society does not itself hold any research files or research collections, but incorporates its acquisitions and holdings into the nationally ranked Genealogy Collection of the Denver Public Library. A CGS volunteer will perform a basic name search in the resources at the Denver Public Library or census name searches in printed indexes and Soundex. We will photocopy up to 10 pages from books at the Denver Public Library when the exact title and information are given. Before asking the Society to do any research for you, you should: First, see if the information you seek is immediately available to you online by using some of the resources yourself which are identified for you and linked on this Website. Choose the link to left identified as "Internet Resources for Colorado Research." Second, search the Denver Public Library's online catalog yourself to see if there are library resources available which might contain the information you seek. Identify those specific resources by name when you mail your request form to the Society. You will find the library catalog at http://catalog.denverlibrary.org. When you are ready to ask a Society volunteer to assist you, please complete the request form, and return it by mail with the required fee as described on the form. If the scope of your desired work is beyond what volunteers may be expected to perform, you should consider paying for the services of a professional genealogist or genealogical researcher.
