I am researching information on the LENTZ or LENZ family that settled in Magnolia township. Henry or Heinrich was born in Gelnhausen, Germany in 1817 and immigrated to the US around 1848. He and his wife Anna lived in Maryland for a period of time before moving to Iowa around 1866. According to the 1870 Harrison County census, two children John and Grace were born in Maryland. Other children, found in the 1870 and 1880 census were Henry, Charles, Jacob, Mary, Elizabeth, and Wesley. Charles Edward was a photographer in Logan in 1891 according to the History of Harrison County. Henry, Jr., Charles, and Mary all moved to Atchison, Kansas. Unfortunately, I don't have much information regarding the whereabouts of the other children and their descendants. I am also trying to find a death date for Henry Sr., and I am trying to find his and Anna's grave (Anna died in 1899 and would have been one of the first funerals at the Methodist church which was founded that same year). John, the oldest son is buried in Magnolia Cemetary, but I have not been able to find a grave or death date for Henry. I will be happy to share any information that I have. |
