Welcome to our Family History Site
Joining a local family history group will give you lots of benefits for researching your family history. Our research centre has a wide range of resources available for not only Australia, but many other areas around the world.
Duty monitors are always available for advice and assistance and reciprocal rights are offered to members of all family history societies who visit our room to do research (proof of current membership required).
You also get to meet others who have a similar interest, may be researching similar areas and families, and those who have lots of knowledge that they are willing to share.
The Society undertakes special projects from time to time in an endeavour to preserve records within its designated areas which are on the mid north coast of New South Wales.
In May 2016 our new publication titled “MIDWIVES: Coffs Harbour District, Bellingen and Dorrigo, Nambucca Valley” was
The book gives an outline of the work of the early untrained midwives of the 19th Century in these newly settled districts and following the requirement for nurses to be trained and private hospitals to be licensed in the early 20th Century, many midwives set up their own private hospitals.
The work of these midwives, who provided an essential service to these towns, is also recorded in the 80 page book.
Copies are available from the Society at $20 each (plus postage and packaging if required).
