All the rest of the graves are marked by plain unlettered limestone
and it’s probably not known who is buried in them.
The Jeffery Cemetery information was taken from a scale drawing found
among the papers of William Jeffery. When the drawing was made and by
whom is not known. It was drawn on fine linen paper using brown ink and
the handwriting looks very much like that of Francis Jeffery J.P., of
Washington Township, 1850’s and 1860’s. I was told that very
little of this cemetery still remains
The above information was given by Robert Jeffery, great grandson of Francis
Jeffery.
The Jeffery Cemetery is located on the farm now owned by Ralph Stolle,
formerly a part of the original farm where Francis Jeffery settled in
1816.
