The San Joaquin Genealogical Society is a non-profit, non-sectarian organization founded in 1952. Our purpose is to promote general interest in genealogy and history by individual and group cooperation and to cooperate with other similar organizations. We encourage the research and writing of genealogical books, papers and lectures on subjects of genealogical interest through monthly meetings, workshops, seminars, lectures and field trips.

Our Newsletter is currently published five times a year from September through June. Members and non-members are invited to submit articles and queries by the 20th of the month prior to publication.

The Society also provides members with a private reference library from which members may borrow genealogy reference material for up to two (2) weeks.

Since we have a diverse membership scattered throughout the county, our general meetings are held on the third (3rd) Thursday, at either 1:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. at Brookside LDS Church, located at 800 W. Brookside Road. Be sure to contact our Officers or check your local (Stockton) papers for meeting times and locations. No general meetings are held in July, August and December.

Board meetings are held on the first Monday of the same months at 7:00 p.m. at one of the officers' home and are open to all members who want to attend. Caveat: be prepared to be put to work. You can reach all officers by mail to the Society Post Office Box shown on the home page
