GERHARDT BAUMAN

Gerhardt Bauman, age 82 of Hosmer, died at Lake Area Hospital in Webster May 22, 1992. His funeral was May 26 at St. John Lutheran Church in Hosmer with the Rev. Bruce Falksen officiating.

Burial was at Bethany Cemetery in Hosmer under the direction of Miller Funeral Home in Bowdle.

Gerhardt Bauman was born at Java July 7, 1909 to Frederick and Christina (Fiechtner) Bauman. He grew up in the Java area where he attended rural school. He and his brother-in-law were partners in the Bowdle Garage. He later owned a filling station at Bowdle. He farmed for three years with his father, east of Java, prior to his marriage to Hildegarde Jakober March 8, 1936 at Hosmer. They made Hosmer their home where he owned and operated the Gable's Hardware Store for 56 years.

Survivors include his wife Hildegarde of Hosmer; one son: the Rev. Dr. Paul Bauman of Sheboygan, WI; one daughter: Mrs. David (Margaret) Trefz of Webster and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Pallbearers will be Michael Bauman, Matthew Trefz, Clarence Bauman, Roger Wentz, Frank Gisi and Elmer Fauth.
