ELIZABETH (HOPPE) ARTZ

Elizabeth (Hoppe) Artz, age 90 of Aberdeen died on Thursday, May 11, 1995 at Mother Joseph Manor in Aberdeen.

A Memorial Liturgy was held May 15, t Miller-Huebl Funeral Home in Aberdeen with the Father John Lantsberger as the officiant. Burial was at Sunset Memorial Gardens at Aberdeen.

Elizabeth Hoppe was born on Dec. 27, 1904 in South Russia to Wilhelm and Agatha Hoppe. She worked in the area until 1922, when she came to the United States to join her mother in Hoven.

Later she moved to Bowdle and worked for Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Braufman until she was married to John J. Artz on April 5, 1925 at Bowdle. More on work and life in paper.

Survivors include two sons: Bernard Artz of Aberdeen and John Artz of Pierre; four daughters: Mrs. Marion Weron of Mobridge; Mrs. Del (Fran) Aldinger of Aberdeen; Mrs. Darlene Bomesberger of Brookings; and Mrs. Dennis (Betty) Doerr of Fort Collins, CO; 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1970, one daughter, and all of her brothers and sisters.

Honorary pallbearers were granddaughters: Sharon Fischer, Jolene Merkel, Margo Bomesberger, Kim Omland, Tammy Griffith, Carla Olson, and Karen Lilly.

Pallbearers were grandsons: John Artz, Gerald Weron, Blake Bomesberger, Allen Nies, Justin Artz, Rob Aldinger, Kevin Artz, Duane Artz, Jim Weron, Chad Doerr, and Brandon Doerr.
