CLINTON D. BLUMHARDT

Clinton D. Blumhardt, age 59 of Leola, died at St. Luke's Midland Regional Medical Center May 19, 1993. A Memorial Service was held May 24 at St. James Lutheran Church at Leola with the Rev. David Wildermuth officiating. Miller-Huebl Funeral Home of Aberdeen was in charge of arrangements. Cremation was held at Riverside Cemetery Association Crematory at Fargo, ND.

Clinton D. Blumhardt was born August 5, 1993 at Bowdle to Hugo and Jacobina (Weiss) Blumhardt. He grew up and attended school at Bowdle. He graduated from Bowdle High School in 1951.

He married Arliss Schlepp July 14, 1953 at Bowdle. They made their home and farmed in the Bowdle area. He entered the U.S. Army in 1955 and served until his discharge in 1957. In 1958 they moved to Leola where he worked for the Soil Conservation Service. In 1975 they bought and had been operating the Hiway Cafe in Leola.

He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, the Leola Country Club, the American Legion and was a retired Leola Volunteer Fireman.

He is survived by his wife, Arliss of Leola; three sons: Craig Blumhardt of Jamestown, ND; Wayde Blumhardt of Waterloo, IA; and Miles Blumhardt of Ft. Collins, CO; two daughters: Debra Peterson of Wayne, NE and Beth Blumhardt of Fargo, ND; one brother: Rodney Blumhardt of Littleton, CO; one sister: Chloe Olsen of Arvada, CO and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Honorary casketbearers were his grandchildren: Eric Blumhardt, Adam Blumhardt, Jaime Schneider, John Schneider, Tyler Schneider, Samuel Blumhardt, Jane Blumhardt and Hannah Blumhardt.
