Leo Kuhn was born in Napoleon, ND, on July 20, 1931, the last child of John G. and Caroline Kuhn, homesteaders who farmed for many years northwest of Napoleon. He attended rural schools, starting in the Kroeber School District and later moving into high school at Napoleon.
Upon graduation from Napoleon High School in 1949 he decided to attend Crosier Seminary in Onamia, MN. He later transferred to the St. Paul Seminary in St. Paul, MN, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree. He then went on to complete his Master of Arts in Religious Education at Loyola University in Chicago. IL. He was ordained a Roman Catholic priest by Bishop Leo F. Dworschak at St. Phillip Neri Church in Napoleon June 5, 1958.

He was preceded in death by three brothers: Pete, John and Tom Kuhn, and one sister: Mrs. Julia Bitz, all of Napoleon.
Survivors included three sisters: Mrs. Rose Bitz of Bismarck, ND; sister Ramona Kuhn of Bethany Convent in St. Paul, MN; and Mrs. Margaret Carlson of Bowdle; and several nieces and nephews.
