Katherine T. Raba, age 77 of Selby, died Dec. 8, 1996 at the Mobridge Regional Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Selby with the Rev. Jim Friedrich officiating. Burial followed at St. Anthony's Catholic Section of Selby Memorial Gardens under the direction of Miller Funeral Home.

Katherine T. Kosters was born to Maria (Theunissen) and Gerard Kosters Oct. 19, 1918 south of Java near Spring Lake. She attended East and West Spring Valley Schools through eighth grade. By age 11, her parents had died and she lived with her sister, Wilhelmina and husband, Gottlieb Schuh at the home which is now Aunt Minnie's Attic. She worked at her sister's home and for neighbors housekeeping and babysitting.

She married Martin Raba Jan. 5, 1938 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Selby. First they lived at the Henry Hein farm in the Spring Valley District. Eight years later they moved to a farm owned by Andrew Raba, known as the John Carlson farm southeast of Selby. In 1961 they moved to the farm home of Andrew Raba, southeast of Selby. This is where she lived the remainder of her life.

Survivors include her husband of Selby; one son: Martin (Marty) Raba of Selby; eight daughters: Mrs. Art (Arlene) Marty of Jemez Springs NM; Delores James of Coppell, TX; Kathleen Raba of Okinawa, Japan; Mrs. Cecelia Adams of Rapid City; Mrs. Delano (Agnes) Sandy of Truman, MN; Mrs. Wallace (Helen) Amborn of Rapid City; Mrs. David (Anna) Weber of Maple Grove, MN; and Mrs. Barbara Pearson of Selby and her husband Randolph Pearson of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, six sisters; one son-in-law, and three grandchildren.
