Magdalena Schlecht, age 95 of Bowdle, died Dec. 14, 1995 at the Bowdle Nursing Home.

Her funeral was Tuesday afternoon at St. Paul Lutheran Church. More on religious services in paper.

Magdalena Buechler was born to Magdalena (Kirscheman) and John Buechler Nov. 25, 1990 at rural Bowdle, Walworth County. She was baptized by Rev. Ottesberg on Dec. 2, 1900 at the Neuglueckstal Lutheran Church northwest of Bowdle. she attended country school through the third grade northwest of Bowdle. She attended country school through the third grade northwest of Bowdle. She was confirmed by Rev. Kirchdenfer April 5, 1914 at the Java Lutheran Church. Her father died when she was a young girl and her mother and brother, Daniel remained on the farm.

She married Henry Schlecht on March 11, 1920 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church Parsonage in Bowdle with Rev. Hanselman officiating. They lived and farmed in Walworth County until retiring in 1959 and moving into Bowdle. He died April 29, 1963 and she continued to live in Bowdle with her daughter, Lydia. She moved to the Bowdle Nursing Home Oct. 12, 1995.

Survivors include one son: Art Schlecht of Bowdle; three daughters: Mrs. Hulda Erlenbusch of Tolstoy, Mrs. Herbert (Eleanora) Erlenbusch and Lydia Schlecht of Bowdle; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and five step great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one grandson, one granddaughter, two sisters and four brothers.

Honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step great-granddaughters.

Pallbearers were Ken Erlenbusch of Pierre, Larry Erlenbusch of Aberdeen, Debra Erlenbusch of Gregory, Diana Erlenbusch of Sioux Falls, Lexie Vetch of Watertown and Rodney Schlecht of Bowdle.
