TED C. SANDMEIER

Theodore C. Sandmeier, age 78 of Aberdeen and formerly of Bowdle, died June 7, 1993 at St. Luke's Midland Regional Medical Center at Aberdeen.

His funeral was June 11 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bowdle with the Rev. Steven Handorf officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery in Bowdle under the direction of Miller-Huebl Funeral Home of Aberdeen and Miller Funeral Home of Bowdle.

Theodore C. Sandmeier was born May 18, 1915 in Logan County near Lehr, ND to Karl and Sophia (Wahl) Martel and was later adopted by Christ and Maria (Schick) Sandmeier. He grew up and attended rural school north of Bowdle.

He farmed northwest of Bowdle. He married Mary Huft Oct. 28, 1937 at Bowdle. He continued to farm and from 1980 to 1984 he worked at Steve's Amoco in Bowdle. He enjoyed flying, hunting, fishing and camping.

He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bowdle where he ushered and was a choir member. He was also a former township clerk.

Survivors include his wife, Mary of Aberdeen' three sons: Emil Sandmeier and wife, Gladys of Bismarck, ND; Roland Sandmeier and wife, Sharon of Roscoe; and LeRoy Sandmeier and wife, Betty of Java; three daughters: Mrs. Ted (Kathleen "Kathy") Nipp of Aberdeen; Darlene Sandmeier of Minneapolis, MN; and Mrs. Rocky (Arlene) Schmitt of Redfield; one brother: Gus Martel of Bismarck, ND and two half-brothers: Charles Martel of Lloyd Minister, Saskatchewan, Canada and John Martel of WhiteCourt, Alberta Canada; one sister: Amelia Leberman of Lodi, CA and four half-sisters: Ruth Naeth of Prince George, British Columbia, Canada; Rose Basseotto, Calgary, Alberta, Canada; Esther Randall of Evansberg, Alberta, Canada and Edna Martel of North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters and two half-brothers.

Honorary casketbearers were granddaughters: Debbie Kenner, Traci Frank, Sherry Perrion, Shirley Erstad, Sheila and Rebecca Sandmeier, Michelle Nipp, Amanda and Angie Schmitt, Destiny and Serena Duhon and his great-grandchildren.

Casketbearers were his grandson: Robin and Robert Schmitt, Cody Nipp, Jeff and Bryan Sandmeier and Mark Perrion.
