ALOIS A. (TUFFY) HERMAN

Alois A. (Tuffy) Herman, age 75, of Aberdeen, died Sept. 20, 1994 at St. Luke's Midland Regional Medical Center at Aberdeen of acute leukemia.

Services were Sept. 23, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at Aberdeen with the Rev. Roger Noer officiating. burial followed in Sunset Memorial Gardens at Aberdeen under the direction of Miller-Huebel Funeral Home of Aberdeen. Military Honors were conducted by Sidney L. Smith American Legion Post #24.

Alois Anthony (Tuffy) Herman was born to Joseph and Gertrude (Kaiser) Herman on Feb. 10, 1919, on his parent's homestead northeast of Hoven. He grew up and attended rural school southwest of Bowdle. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps at Columbia for several ears. he worked as a farm laborer, cattle truck driver, and a bus driver as a young man.

In October, 1941, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving on the U.S.S. Hambleton for over four years. On Feb. 12, 1946 her married Edna Buechler of Bowdle. They farmed near the Richmond area for several years. They moved to the Westport area, farming there for 36 years. They retired in 1987 and moved to Aberdeen where they were residents at the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife of Aberdeen; one son: John Herman of Orlando, FL; one daughter: Carol Sheldon of Westport; two brothers: Charles Herman of Westport and Herman Herman of Aberdeen; two sisters: Mrs. Otto (Catherine) Weber of Plattsmouth, NE, and Mrs. Bernard (Regina) Weber of Seneca; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Jim, who died April 24, 1975, three brothers and two sister.
