ALBERT F. MERKEL

Albert F. Merkel, age 72, of Bowdle, was dead on arrival at Bowdle Hospital Friday, Oct. 14, 1994.

His funeral was Monday afternoon at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Bowdle with the Rev. Gerald Blobaum officiating.

Burial followed at the church cemetery at Bowdle with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Bowdle American Legion Post #264.

Albert F. Merkel was born Dec. 2, 1921 at Glenham to Jacob L. and Elizabeth (Doerr) Merkel. He attended country schools southeast of Java. More on military service in paper.

He married Gloria M. Bogema on Jan. 5, 1946, at Minneapolis, MN. More on work and clubs in paper.

Survivors include his wife of Bowdle; on son: Larry A. Merkel of Bismarck, ND; two daughters: Mrs. Dale (Gloria) Haar of Roscoe; and Mrs. Donneley (LaRita) Kay of Warner; two sisters: Mrs. Eddie (Johanna) Mastel of Miller; and Mrs. Don (Doris) Rissmann of Highmore; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death of his parents, one sister, and a brother in infancy.

Honorary pallbearers were Dennis Haar of Livingston, TN; Doran Haar of Aberdeen; Darcy Haar of Roscoe; Jason, Jennifer, and Emily Kay of Warner; and all of his friends.

Pallbearers were Roger Mastel of Miller; Pete Timm, Mark Bieber, Joe Pesicka, Glenn Blumhardt, and Erwin Schilling of Bowdle.
