USGenWeb Archives Church Records Project

Arkansas CRP Research Guide

Baptists and Methodist Episcopals were the largest religious groups in Arkansas in the 19th century. To assist you in locating church records, try A Directory of Churches and Religious Organizations in the State of Arkansas (1942), and Guide to Vital Statistics Records in Arkansas: Volume II, Church Archives (c1940). Both are out of print, but are available at the Family History Center, or you can try your local library.

Many denominations have collected their records into central repositories. You can write to the following addresses to learn where the records are located:

Baptist

The USGenWeb Archives are dependent of volunteers, people just like you, donating their time by transcribing public domain records or other non-copyrighted primary sources. Transcribing records is an incredible gift to the present and future researcher. It requires dedication and patient attention to detail, but is not complicated. Your file contributions help build this repository for all researchers to come.
