1907 Edmonton Journal Deaths

HOLLIDAY 1907-01-03 - Guelph, Ontario Died - Mary HOLLIDAY second daughter of the late Thomas

Holliday, one of the oldest brewers in the Dominion, is dead from pneumonia. There survive two

brothers William and Tindall; Mrs. MacAulay; Emma at home; Mrs. J.R.M. Dixon, Ellenburn; and

Mrs. W.P. Torrance, Toronto.

HOLMES 1907-02-05 - Calgary, Alberta Died - George HOLMES George Holmes was killed at the brewery

shortly after midnight Monday morning. It is believed that he mounted one of the ladders to look

into the vats. The ladder slipped and he was killed in the fall He was about 55 years of age and

was a married man.

HOPKINS 1907-05-10 - Brantford, Ontario Died - William HOPKINS An emery wheel at the Gold, Shatter

and Muir factory, burst killing Wm. Hopkins.

HORNBACK 1907-02-01 - Edmonton, Alberta Died - Mr. HORNBACK It is expected that the remains of the

rancher Hornback who was shot at the big Eddy of the McLeod will be interred in the Edmonton

Cemetery.

HORTON 1907-04-13 - Winnipeg, Manitoba Died - Susie HORTON The casualties in the CPR wreck are as

follows: killed, Mrs. R.B. Champion and baby in arms; Mrs. R. Davidson and baby in arms; Wm.

Day, Sunny Hill House, Kingstone, England; Winfred and Susie Horton. Bungalo, Charing Heath,

Kent, England; C.H. Geolding. his brother and wife and 2 children, Worcester, Mass; Mrs. August

Borklund & 2 children, Worcester, Mass.

HORTON 1907-04-13 - Winnipeg, Manitoba Died - Winfred HORTON The casualties in the CPR wreck are

as follows: killed, Mrs. R.B. Champion and baby in arms; Mrs. R. Davidson and baby in arms;

Wm. Day, Sunny Hill House, Kingstone, England; Winfred and Susie Horton. Bungalo, Charing

Heath, Kent, England; C.H. Geolding. his brother and wife and 2 children, Worcester, Mass; Mrs.

HORTON 1907-08-14 - Edmonton, Alberta Died - William (Child of) HORTON The infant child of William

Horton will be buried this afternoon.

HOSE 1907-07-12 - Kenora, Ontario Died - Jacob HOSE one of the longest residents in Kenora and a

highly respected citizen, died suddenly last night. The deceased was about 56 years of age and

came to this place in 1881 from Winnipeg of which city he was a pioneer citizen.

HOSKER 1907-05-14 - Rossland, British Columbia Died - David HOSKER At 10:30 last night David

Hosker, a machinist employed at the smelter was found dead with his neck broken and bleeding

profusely from wounds about the face and head, at the foot of the stairway in the St. Eimo

Hotel. Gustave Bouchard is in jail charged with causing his death.

HOTTINGER 1907-05-10 - Red Deer, Alberta Died - A. HOTTINGER a farmer at Burnt Lake, 14 miles west of

here committed suicide at his farm, by blowing out his brains with a gun. He arrived here a few

weeks ago from Colorado and had just purchased a farm.

HOUSFIELD 1907-01-10 - Calgary, Alberta Died - Georgina Jane (Riley) HOUSFIELD At Hounsfield Lodge,

Calgary at 10 A.M. on Jan. 4, Georgina Jane Hounsfield, beloved wife of Thomas Riley in the

64th year of her age.

HOWE 1907-03-26 - Toronto, Ontario Died - Brakeman H. HOWE A head-on collision this morning about

10:30 on the CPR, two miles east of Myrtle, caused the death of 2 men and seriously injured 2

others. The dead men are Fireman C. Jones and Brakeman H. Howe.

HUBBARD 1907-12-19 - Lacombe, Alberta Died - M. HUBBARD The death occurred yesterday of M.

Hubbard of Lacombe who has been ill at the Public Hospital.

HUMBER 1907-03-18 - Goderich, Ontario Died - Charles A. HUMBER one of Goderich's most esteemed

citizens, was killed last evening. In carrying a heavy article down a flight of stairs, Humber fell

headlong to the bottom, fracturing his skull and causing concussion of the brain.

HUNTER 1907-06-07 - Paris, Ontario Died - William HUNTER an old and respected citizen, was struck by

the Grand Valley Street car today and died shortly afterwards. His head was badly bruised and

his skull fractured.

HUNTER 1907-11-19 - Uxbridge, Ontario Died - John HUNTER While temporarily out of his mind, as a

result of worry, John Hunter, retired butcher, cut his throat with a razor and died shortly after. He

was 80 years old.

HURRY 1907-01-14 - Edmonton, Alberta Died - R. HURRY The funeral of the infant child of R. Hurry

took place this afternoon from the family residence on the Fort Saskatchewan trail to the

Edmonton Cemetery.

HURSEL 1907-09-18 - Winnipeg, Manitoba Died - Harry R. HURSEL The accidental death occurred at

Maple Creek of Harry Hursel, fireman on the CPR. While shooting at Crane Lake, he caught hold

of the gun by the muzzle, when it accidentally discharged.

HUTCHINSON 1907-05-08 - Grenfell, Saskatchewan Died - Dr. John HUTCHINSON The death of Dr. John

Hutchinson. a resident here for the past 21 years occurred on Sun a: he country residence,

Craimiure House, a few miles south of here. The doctor had only been ill a few days m

pneumonia set in and resulted in his death. The deceased was 54 years old.

HUTTON 1907-04-04 - Frank, Alberta Died - Charles HUTTON An explosion of gas occurred in #4 colliery

of the International Coal and Coke Co. at Coleman yesterday causing the death of three men.

The dead are Charles Hutton, fireboss; Henry Grewcutt and Henry Grewcutt. Jr.

INGS 1907-08-09 - Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island Died - John INGS J. Walter Ings, High River,

Alberta; Dr. George Arthur Ings, Calgary; and Fred W. Ings, Nanton, Alberta inherit a fifth share

each of $220,000 estate by the death of their father John Ings at Charlottetown.

IRONSIDE 1907-03-04 - Port Arthur, Ontario Died - Ernest G. IRONSIDE A veil of mystery as to the death

of Ernest G. Ironside, son of George Ironside, inspector of Inland Revenue, whose body was

found alongside the railway tracks near MacKenzie on the GPR Sat. morning, still surrounds the

IRVING 1907-07-27 - Toronto, Ontario Died - Jack IRVING A drowning accident occurred near Sunnyside

during a thunderstorm Thurs. night when the launch Danline with 10 young men in it upset. Only

one survived. Dead are: Joseph Irwin. aged 20, bricklayer; Jack Irving. 20; Walter Dudin

(Dundm),20; Frank Kyle. 18; Frank Daly. 19; Dawson Nehrgang, CPR switchman; Gordon LeRoc

trainer for the Shamrocks; R.G. Miller. 19; John Irvine.
