1907 Edmonton Journal Deaths

LACZKOWSKI 1907-02-20 - Edmonton, Alberta Died - Leo T. LACZKOWSKI The remains of the late Leo T.

Laczkowski, who died at the Misencordia Hospital yesterday were sent south on the C.P.R. this

morning to Spring Lake where interment will take place. He was 27 years of age and originally

came from Minnesota. A sister is at present in the city and 2 brothers reside in B.C.

LAFLEM 1907-05-13 - Regina, Saskatchewan Died - Mr. LAFLEM Word reached the city yesterday of a

drowning which took place about 6 miles north of the City in Boggy Creek, near what is known as

Grants Bridge. The victim of the accident was Mr. Laflem a farmer living about 8 miles from the

city on the Foxleigh Trail.

LAGATHE 1907-09-11 - Cape Beauld, Newfoundland Died - William LAGATHE At Cape Beauld on the

Newfoundland coast, William Lagathe and Joseph Colin, both of Quebec, died when they

mistakenly drank wood alcohol.

LALONDA 1907-08-27 - Fort William, Ontario Died - Charles LALONDA an American inspector of ties, was

struck by a train and killed.

LALONDE 1907-09-04 - Montreal, Quebec Died - Mrs. Joseph LALONDE Believing that she had been

directed by Christ to die as Joan of Arc died, Mrs. Joseph Lalonde of St. Lozare, Que. burned

herself to death yesterday.

LAMB 1907-06-10 - Strathcona, Alberta Died - George H. LAMB Six men lost their lives in a coal mine

fire here today. George H. Lamb, about 30 years of age, a native of Durham, England; Joseph

Hardy, pit foreman, 52 years of age, a native of Newcastle on Tyne, England leaves a wife and

two children in Newcastle. Percy Harrington was about 27 years of age, unmarried and came

from Essex, England; J.T. Tettley. was 27 years of age, unmarried and a native of

Barrow-in-Farness, Lanes., England. Wm. McClelland was about 24 years of age, unmarried and

from South Africa. F. Thepot was about 30 years of age and a native of Brittany, South of

LAMOTZ 1907-01-30 - Montreal, Quebec Died - Victor LAMOTZ One man killed and one badly injured was

the result of a collision at Lachine last evening between a GTR passenger train and a brewery

sleigh driven by Victor Lamotz whose skull was crushed.

LANGLEY 1907-08-05 - Sandwich, Ontario Died - Mrs. Mary Jane LANGLEY aged 88, widow of Pierre

Hector Morin, postmaster, died in Toronto. The Morin's lived in Windsor during the rebellion of

LAROSE 1907-06-27 - Edmonton, Alberta Died - June LAROSE Died on June 25, June Agnes Larose.

daughter of Joe Larose.

LATIMER 1907-09-27 - Edmonton, Alberta Died - Carson LATIMER who resided 6 miles north of the city

died early this morning and will be buried in Little Mountain Cemetery tomorrow. He was 47 years

LATOURNEAU 1907-12-05 - Toronto, Ontario Died - Blanche LATOURNEAU aged 13, was struck by a train at

Tecumseh Park last night and killed.

LeCLAIRE 1907-05-02 - Edmonton, Alberta Died - G. (Daughter of) LeCLAIRE The one year old daughter of

G. LeClaire. died last night at the family residence on 6th St. The funeral takes place to the

Roman Catholic Cemetery.

LEDBURG 1907-10-28 - Kenora, Ontario Died - Eric LEDBURG A labourer named Eric Ledburg in the employ

of Chambers and Co. at Grand Trunk Crossing yesterday, blew out his brains with a small

revolver which he placed in his mouth.

LEE 1907-07-12 - Crooked Lake, Saskatchewan Died - Olive (Daughter Albert) LEE Died on June 29,

Olive, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lee, aged 2 months.

LEE 1907-02-27 - Toronto, Ontario Died - A. Burdette LEE Mrs. (Dr.) H.C. Wilson of Edmonton

received word yesterday of the death of her brother, A. Burdette Lee, president of the well known

hardware firm of Rice, Lewis and son of Toronto.

LEINO 1907-05-09 - Kenora, Ontario Died - Eric LEINO Fred Magnusen and Eric Leino were killed by a

premature dynamite explosion at McLeans camp on the Transcontinental north of Dryden.

LEROC 1907-07-27 - Toronto, Ontario Died - Gordon LEROC A drowning accident occurred near

Sunnyside during a thunderstorm Thurs. night when the launch Danline with 10 young men in it

upset. Only one survived. Dead are: Joseph Irwin. aged 20, bricklayer; Jack Irving. 20; Walter

Dudin (Dundm),20; Frank Kyle. 18; Frank Daly. 19; Dawson Nehrgang, CPR switchman; Gordon

LeRoc trainer for the Shamrocks; R.G. Miller. 19; John Irvine.

LESSARD 1907-09-18 - Cobalt, Ontario Died - Odilion LESSARD a native of Montreal, aged about 75 fell out

of a bucket in the main shaft of the Way Mine and was killed instantly.

LEWIS 1907-07-24 - Cranbrook, British Columbia Died - J. LEWIS J. McLeod and J. Lewis, two

employees of the Marysville smelter drowned in the St. Mary's River. McLeod is the son of

wealthy parents in Scotland.

LEWIS 1907-05-25 - Toronto, Ontario Died - Dr. F.A. LEWIS for Dufferin, died suddenly in Toronto from

heart disease.

LEWIS 1907-09-05 - Portage La Prairie, Manitoba Died - E. LEWIS was working in one of the GTP

camps up the line yesterday, he suddenly complained of a sharp pain near his heart and dropped

LEWIS 1907-01-02 - Calgary, Alberta Died - Susan (Mrs. W.H.) LEWIS On Dec. 27,1906, Susan,

beloved wife of W.H. Lewis died, aged 38 years and 10 months. Remains to be shipped to

Hamilton, Ont. for interment.

LIHKI 1907-04-17 - Port Arthur, Ontario Died - Jokko LIHKI a Hungarian lost his life at the British

American elevator. He was engaged at work in the basement of the building when, accidentally,

his clothing caught in the revolving shafting. Instantly he was wheeled around, his body coming in

contact with beams above the shafting. His body was terribly mangled.

LINDSAY 1907-12-16 - Belleville, Ontario Died - Anson LINDSAY broke through the ice on Raven Lake and

drowned.

LINDSAY 1907-01-04 - Stettler, Alberta Died - David LINDSAY a homesteader whose place is about 43

miles east, was found dead on the Ranch.

LINTON 1907-10-29 - Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan Died - John LINTON died in Rox Station yesterday from

alcoholic poisoning. He had recently come to Canada from South Africa.
