1907 Edmonton Journal Deaths

McNEILL 1907-02-02 - Calgary, Alberta Died - J.C. Mrs. (nee Leishmann) McNEILL The wife of Mr. J.C.

McNeill. contractor of this city, died yesterday morning at the General Hospital. Mrs. McNeill has

only been ill for a few weeks and underwent an operation at the close of the week from which she

never rallied. Her husband is left to mourn her with a family of 3 small children - 2 boys and a

baby girl. Mrs. McNeill was born in July 1867 in the village on Denny's Corners, Lanark Co. Ont.

She came to Calgary in 1888 and was married in 1894. Mrs. Chief Smart of this city and Mrs.

George Fraser, now at Santa Barbara, Ca. were her sisters. Her one brother in Ontario is Mr. A.

Leishmann of the Leismann-Munchell Lumber Co. of Orillia and Woodstock.

McOSCAR 1907-12-31 - Vancouver, British Columbia Died - M. McOSCAR aged 40 and Kenneth Matheson.

aged 26 drowned in 7 feet of water while crossing the snow covered boom at Rock Bay, 100

miles up the coast.

McPHEE 1907-12-13 - Gilbert Plains, Manitoba Died - A. McPHEE 20 years of age recently from

Aberdeenshire, Scotland, shot himself while out deer hunting near here, dying instantly.

McPHELEN 1907-07-29 - Portage La Prairie, Manitoba Died - James McPHELEN was drowned at the CNR

washout west of the city Sunday.

McPHERSON 1907-09-28 - Regina, Saskatchewan Died - John McPHERSON who fell from the city hall dome,

died last evening from his injuries.

McQUEEN 1907-04-08 - Winnipeg, Manitoba Died - A. McQUEEN a graduate in medicine of Edinburgh

University, was instantly killed by falling from an emigrant train at Gonor bound for Winnipeg on

Sat. night. It is believed that he tried to recover his balance, but fell off the train. He was about

40 years of age and was evidently coming to locate in the west.

McROBERT 1907-02-22 - Edmonton, Alberta Died - Robert McROBERT The death occurred this morning of

Robert McRobert of the public hospital. The family lives about 4 miles out of town.

McROBERTS 1907-04-08 - Edmonton, Alberta Died - Miss. Maggie McROBERTS died yesterday. The deceased

lady lived on a farm some 4 miles from the city.

MECHALCHUK 1907-07-30 - Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Died - J.A. MECHALCHUK This morning Metro Sharope

shot and fatally wounded J.A. Mechalchuk, CNR section foreman.

MELFAN 1907-12-17 - Edmonton, Alberta Died - M. MELFAN died at the Isolation Hospital last night.

MERCER 1907-12-10 - St. Paul, USA Died - Mrs. J.B. MERCER Word has been received of the death of

Mrs. Mercer, wife of J B Mercer wholesale liquor dealer. The death occurred in St. Paul, Minn.

where she had gone for an operation for appendicitis. Funeral will take place in Edmonton on

MERCER 1907-09-13 - Edmonton, Alberta Died - Phil (Child of) MERCER The infant child of Phil Mercer of

Kinistino Ave. died yesterday afternoon.

MICHAND 1907-01-23 - Edmonton, Alberta Died - Andrew MICHAND The death occurred last night at the

General Hospital of Andre Michand Dominion Land Surveyor of this city. He was taken ill with

inflammation of the lungs and removed to the hospital where death took place. Andre Michand,

D.D.S. was born in the province of Quebec and has lived in the west for about 9 years. He

leaves a mother and brother at Kamourkaska, Quebec.

MILLER 1907-11-28 - Portage La Prairie, Manitoba Died - William MILLER As the result of an accident

while helping to pull a heavy scow onto the bank of the Assiniboine River, Wm. Miller met his

death yesterday afternoon.

MILLER 1907-07-27 - Toronto, Ontario Died - R.G. MILLER A drowning accident occurred near Sunnyside

during a thunderstorm Thurs. night when the launch Danline with 10 young men in it upset. Only

one survived. Dead are: Joseph Irwin. aged 20, bricklayer; Jack Irving. 20; Walter Dudin

(Dundm),20; Frank Kyle. 18; Frank Daly. 19; Dawson Nehrgang, CPR switchman; Gordon LeRoc

trainer for the Shamrocks; R.G. Miller. 19; John Irvine.

MILLIGAN 1907-08-05 - Hamilton, Ontario Died - W.J. MILLIGAN a streetcar conductor, was killed when his

head came in contact with one of the poles used to support the trolley wires and his head was

fractured.

MILLIGAN 1907-11-09 - Toronto, Ontario Died - David MILLIGAN blacksmith of Millbrook was shot and killed

with his own rifle at Otter Lake yesterday.

MILLONSIFER 1907-01-12 - Edmonton, Alberta Died - Leonard MILLONSIFER The death occurred yesterday of

the infant child of Leonard Millonsifer. The funeral took place this morning at 11 A.M. from the

family residence 231 Picard St. to the Edmonton Cemetery.

MITCHELL 1907-08-14 - Oshawa, Ontario Died - James R. MITCHELL the 8 year old son of D.R. Mitchell,

was drowned here yesterday.

MITCHELL 1907-05-14 - Port Arthur, Ontario Died - Ben MITCHELL aged 30 years, engineer of the CPR out

of Schreiber, met with a fatal accident on Sat. afternoon. He was engaged on a work train near

Port Coldwell, when running through a rock cut he put his head out of the cab and was struck by a

piece of rock. The deceased's relatives live in Selkirk.

MOFFATT 1907-05-18 - Toronto, Ontario Died - Mrs. MOFFATT of Richmond St. West was found dead in

her bed today by some member of her family.

MOLSON 1907-07-29 - Montreal, Quebec Died - John William MOLSON The death took place yesterday of

John William Molson. second vice-president of the Molsons Bank but retired from business for 30

years. He was 85 years old.

MONAGHAN 1907-04-11 - Edmonton, Alberta Died - Mrs. MONAGHAN The death occurred this morning at the

Misericordia Hospital of Mrs. Monaghan wife of Mr. Monaghan, of the Capital Real Estate Co. The

remains will be taken east tomorrow over the C.P.R. by Mr. Monaghan to his old home at Hunter

River, P.E.I, where interment will take place.

MONTA 1907-09-27 - Montreal, Quebec Died - Joseph MONTA a farmer living at St. Coulont was found

hanging in his bedroom from a hook over the room door. He leaves a wife and 6 young children.

MOONEY 1907-11-13 - Montreal, Quebec Died - Fireman MOONEY of Smiths Falls was killed in a collision

on the CPR at St. Clot Stn. Que.
