to Convene in Calgary.
The Manitoba and North West Baptist convention is to be held as
previously announced at Calgary on July 1st, 2nd and 3rd. A complete programme
has been arranged. On the first day J. R. Coutts, of Carman, will deliver the
presidential address and Rev. R. R. McKay, B. A., will preach the annual
convention sermon. The second day will be taken up with the introduction of new
pastors; the presentation of many reports of committees, and addresses by S.
Everton, B. A., of Medicine Hat, and A. M. McDonald, B. A., of Edmonton. On the
third day papers are to be read by C. C. McLaurin, of Portage la Prairie on
"Our present opportunity in the West;" by James McDermid, of Moose
Jaw, on "Place of money in the Kingdom of God." In the evening of the
third day Rev. J. W. Litch, B. A., will conduct the devotional services, while
Principal A. P. McDiarmid, of Brandon college, will make an address on
education to be followed by Superintendent W. T. Stackhouse, B. A., on
"Our problems and their solution."
Providing there is time these subjects will be dealt with: "The Gospel or
sensational preaching-- Which?" "The Power of Christianity in
shaping the destiny of a nation, " "Causes and Remedy for decline of
spiritual life."
The women's convention will be held the same three days, when various addresses
and the reports of the different committees will be presented.
