Conservative Convention Held Here To-Day.
Large Number of Delegates in Attendance To-Day. Credential Committee Busy all
Morning. Selection of a Candidate for the Commons now in Progress.
That the Conservatives of Alberta are alive to their responsibilities
was amply attested by the large attendance at the Convention of Calgary
district which is meeting in the Maclean hall today.
Hardly a delegate appointed by the local Conservative associations in the
entire district was absent. When the convention was called order at 10 o'clock
this morning, Dr. Lindsay, president of the Calgary Conservative association,
was in the chair. He gave the reason for calling the convention, and then the
credential committee went to work on the credentials submitted by the
delegates. The report of this committee was presented upon the convention
reassembling this afternoon.
The question of a candidate to contest the riding in the approaching Dominion
elections was not taken up until this afternoon.
