ALBERTA CLUB SMOKER

Entertaining Function at the Comfortable Quarters

The comfortable quarters of the Alberta club were crowded last night, the occasion being a general business meeting and a smoker, with an entertaining musical programme.  More than one hundred members and their friends were present.  Vice-President Emerson presided at the business meeting in the absence of President Young. He spoke to the growing popularity of the new club and complimented the members responsible for the organization upon their excellent work.  He called for suggestions that might tend to improve the influence of the club.  ~Measrs~, Hall, Mason, Tempest, Hutchings, Porter, McBirney, Bernard and others spoke briefly. The excellent menu supplied was commented upon enthusiastically, especially the merchants’ lunch. This feature is becoming very popular as it is served quick and in a most appetizing manner.

President Young having arrived gave much information on the progress of the club and the intentions of the management to bring it up to the highest degree of efficiency.

The calling of a general meeting to amend the constitution closed the business.

One of the enjoyable features was the recitation of C. E. Smith, and the sleight of the hand performance of Mr. Bennett, of Boston.  The latter was roundly applauded and for half an hour amused and instructed the audience.

Refreshments were served at the cozy tables in different rooms and all present voted the function a great success.
