Closing Ceremonies.--List of Prize Winners.
The closing exercises of Western Canada College on Monday, proved very
interesting. There was a very good attendance of the friends of the college
present. Among those present were: James Muir, K.C., chairman of the Board of
Directors who occupied the chair; Rev. Dean Paget, Rev. G. W. Kerby, Rev. Mr.
Meyers, Rev. C. Bishop and others.
Rev. Dr. MacRae in a short address told of the work of the college. During the
year there had been seventy pupils on the roll. At the present time there a
great need of additional accommodation, and the matter would be taken up with
the Board of Directors. He mentioned the fact that seven students had written
on the matriculations. The college had affiliated with Toronto University. He
spoke of the favorable outlook for the coming year.
Mr. Muir made a very appropriate address. He referred to the work that was
before a college such as Western Canada College. It was a place of education
built was a place as well for the development of character. He urged the boys
to make Western Canada College to Canada what Harrow, Eaton and Rugby were to
Britain. In future times’ people would mention the fact that such a statesman,
such a judge had received his early education at Western Canada College.
Rev. Dean Paget spoke to the boys of the real meaning of the crest of the
college, the sun rising behind the mountains.
Rev. Mr. Kerby made an appropriate address.
Mr. Muir, Rev. Dean Paget and Rev. Mr. Kerby presented the prizes, which were
as follows;

V. C. Prize-for integrity, honor, and industry-Douglas Cameron. Strathcona,
