PARTICULARS OF PARTIES ATTENDING THE CALGARY COAL CONFERENCE.
Delegates Speak for 3,500 Coal Mine Employees.-- Millions of Money Invested.--
Those Attending.
The delegates and operators now meeting here are as representative
a band of men as can be found in the mining districts.
In the districts represented there are fully 3,500 men employed, and out of
this great number the delegates were picked. There are 21 delegates, and they
are a splendid representation of the working miners with level heads.
The operators are those men actively engaged in the management of the great
coal industries of British Columbia and Alberta. Taken collectively they
represent about $14,000,000 of capital, and they have had years of experience
in their capacities of managers, superintendents, general superintendents, and
general managers. A better party of men to look after their own interests and
still treat the opposite party fairly would be hard to find, and with these two
powers, represented as they are, it is pretty sure that an agreement will be
reached, that will be perfectly satisfactory to both the men and the
stockholders.
