CLAYTON, Mr. Messrs, Harry and Arthur Cole will open their dancing academy at Neher's hall, East Jasper Avenue, this evening. Mr. A.W. Cameron, manager of the Edmonton Opera house, left this afternoon for Spokane to switch the Spokan talent on to the Edmonton circuit. Mr. Williamson of the Edmonton Produce Company states that butter is so scarce in eastern and western Canada this year that his firm will require to import butter from New Zealand. Alfred Beaudry, of the Lesser Slave Lake, who spent yesterday and today in the city, left this afternoon for Athabasca Landing, from which place he will drive his herd of cattle to his farm at the Lesser Slave. Barrie a well known Saskatchewan guide. George Cox, while walking down the footpath on the hill near the Grandview hotel yesterday, slipped and fell badly, injuring his knee and face. He was taken to the Misericordia hospital, where he is resting somewhat easily today. At the Police court this afternoon M. Avery, a man about sixty years of age, appeared on a serious charge which had been preferred by a young lad named Clayton who works at the Alberta Hotel. The offence is alleged to have been committed one evening last week. Clayton had taken Avery to his room at the King Edward Hotel and it is alleged as a counter charge that Clayton had stolen a diamond stud which was missing afterwards. The case against Avery which at first was one of assault was changed last evening and the defendant arrested but afterward released on $1,500 bail. E.B. Williams is acting for Avery and Hector L. Landry for Clayton. After hearing the evidence of several witnesses this afternoon the case was further adjourned till tomorrow.
