A nine year old Swedish girl, is travelling alone all the way from her old home in Stockholm, to Leduc, Alberta where she will be met by relatives who have already established themselves there and who have invited the little girl to come out and live with them. Although only nine years of age, and although the distance she will have covered when she arrives at her destination will have been nearly seven thousand miles. Little Stella is making the whole trip entirely alone. She is a bright- eyed, tuir-haired smart little girl, small for her age, and as sharp as a steel trap. She is well provided with money, is nearly and carefully dressed and carries her ticket and identification card sewed into her skirt. She is a very alert and seems anxious to learn the ways and language of her new country. She can already speak a few works in English, picked up on the voyage out. And is quite willing to air her knowledge to anyone who will listen to her. Stella, is being passed from hand to hand by the officials who happen to be in charge of the conveyances in which she travels, and seems to be getting along famously. She is very popular amongst all the railway men who have looked after her so far and no fears are expressed as to her reaching the end of her journey safely. At Leduc she will be met by her sister, whose husband has a ranch not far from the town and who has promised to look after Stella and bring her up as a true Little Canadian prairie girl. Winnipeg, Man, Nov 25, A Galician named Charles Smith, was crushed between two cars in the C.P.R. yards about 2 o'clock today, dying about six. It is understood he leaves a wife and family. The railway medical men did not think it necessary to inform a coroner, which is considered a remarkable proceeding. St. John, N.B. Nov 26 A boy giving the name of Geo. Fairweather, was caught taking coal from an Intercolonial car tonight a policeman called at the given address and ordered the lad to attend court in the morning. The lad denied stealing the coal, saying some other boy must have used his name. The lad, who was thirteen years old, was alone, and when his grandmother returned, she found him on the kitchen floor with his throat cut and a razor beside him. There is a slight chance of saving the lad's life. The family deny the lad ever stole coal and when the grandmother left him he was writing out the minutes of the St. James Episcopal church, of which he is a member.
