1449 EDMONTON DAILY DEC 18, 1907 ELLIOTT, Cecil HOPKINS, Norman HOPKINS, Albert COLOUGH, William Col. Toronto, Dec 18 After a protracted hearing in which a large number of witnesses heard on both sides the jury tonight returned a verdict of guilty against Cecil Elliott, Norman and Albert Hopkins, charged with conspiring to defraud the Toronto Railway Co. and two insurance companies by means of fake accidents on street cars. The charge arose out of two accidents that happened recently to Elliott and Norman Hopkins respectively, for while claims were sent into the railway company and two accident insurances companies. St. Paul Dec 18 Col. William Clough one of the pioneer railway builders of Minnesota and St. Paul and an early settler is dead at Portland Ore, aged 76. He had been ill health for several years and twelve years ago went to Portland in the hope of improving his health. At the time of his death he was assistant to the President of the Oregon Railway and Navigation Co. the body will be brought to St. Paul for burial.
