NEW PHONES IN STRATHCONA.

Since the installation of the new Strowger phones system in Strathcona two months ago by the local government there has been a great increase in the business, both by way of new subscribers and by long distance calls. When the old system was abandoned there were 96 lines on the switchboard. The new system began with 170, while at the present time there are 200 even with applications coming in at an average rate of one a day. The new service is giving the utmost satisfaction both in the city and in connection with Edmonton; the new cable stretched across the river having made intercommunication between the cities as easy as securing connection in either city alone.
