TEACHERS IN YUKON.

A late issue of the White Horse, Yukon Territory, Star has the following with reference to two teachers well known in Strathcona. Miss Kempton was for some years teacher in Strathcona and her marriage takes place shortly to D. A. McKerricker, school inspector of Lethbridge. The Star says as follows:

" Both the local  teachers, Principal Norman E. Carruthers and primary teacher Miss Ellen M. Kempton, have within the past week wired their respective resignations to Territorial Superintendent Bragg at Dawson, their resignations to take effect immediately after the Christmas holidays.

For six years before coming to take charge of the school at this place last September, Principal Carruthers had been principal of the school at Lacombe, Alberta, and when he left there it was with the understanding with the trustees that he could return any time up to the new year and resume his old position. At the latter is permanent for as long as he may desire to fill it, and as the local situation does not at present suffuse a  very roseate tint, he decided to take the permanent position while it was yet within his grasp.

Miss Kempton is resigning for the same reasons, a permanent and much more congenial position having been offered and is now awaiting her at Lethbridge, Alberta.

While it is with regret that Whitehorse is losing both her teachers, all are pleased that they are bettering their respective positions and conditions. Miss Kempton has been teacher in the primary department of the school here for two years and has demonstrated her fitness as an educator.
Mr. Carruthers came only at the beginning of the present school year,  but during his tenure here has infused new life and new interest in the school and it is not to be wondered at that he is so popular at Lacombe, where he was located and engaged in school work for six years. That each will prosper in their future positions is the wish of their many Whitehorse friends."
