FROM THE FAR NORTH.
The H. B. steamer Athabasca arrived at the Landing from Pelican Rapids on
Monday, with a very large passenger list from all points down the Athabasca and
Mackenzie rivers. Amongst the passengers were H. H. Conroy and party, of the
Indian department, returning from Peel river; Mr. and Mrs. Harding, of the H.
B. Co. at Resolution; F. Gaudette, of the H. B. Co. at Port Good Hope; Mr. and
Mrs. Pearce, of the Indian department at Fort Simpson; Messrs. Brown and
Strauss, of the McLeneghan Trading Co., of Fort Resolution, and a number
of others. The Northern Transportation Co.'s steamer also arrived, bringing C.
Young, manager, and George Slater, accountant, of the Northern Trading company,
returning from their annual business trip down the Mackenzie. The parties
reached Edmonton last night by train from the Landing.
