ARMY TRANSPORT MEN HAVE LEFT CALGARY
Thirty-Five Recruits For Active Service Are Off to the Front
Thirty-five imperial army transport workers recruited in
Calgary and district have left for the front. The men were in charge of
Acting-Sergt. H. G. Hilliard, a Kelowna, B. C. man, who a short time ago came
through to Calgary to join one of the earliest battalions leaving for active
service. They left with a detachment from the coast, which also included 100
Pioneers.

Horne, F. J. Prendergast, A. E. Twist, H. L. Mitchell, G. H .Adair, H. W.
Clein, C. T. McDougall, A. M. Ward, J. J. Limpens, W. J. Shaw, E. A. Harwood,
W. Y. Findlay, J. H. Armstrong, J. Connon, H. S. Cross, C. Chambers, M. L.
Fraser, J. B. Halifax, F. T. Laine, R. H. Jackson, W. Wellin, H. C. Anderson,
D. G. Richardson, B. Richardson, R. E. Townsley, R. H. Scott, Jr., H. R. G.
Craufurd, D. D. Duffield, G. G. McGill, G. S. Hague, E. H. Weston, M. L.
Draper, and M. D. Wilkinson.
Hearty Send off
The men were accorded a hearty send-off by a large number of their
relations and friends gathered at the station. They had all been very carefully
selected and are all experts.
Enlistment is being continued by Lieut. Johnson at the recruiting office,
opposite The Herald's bulletin board on First street west.
