ALBERTA MEN FOR UNIVERSITY CORPS
35 Edmonton and Calgary Boys Leave Saturday For Montreal
The platform at the C. N. R. depot was crowded early on
Saturday by relatives and friends of 35 Edmonton and Calgary boys who left by
the Grand Trunk Pacific for Montreal, where they will join the Third University
company being formed there. The Calgary lads arrived at the C. P. R. depot on
the early morning train from the southern city, and joined the local boys at
the C. N. R. While waiting for the train to depart they enlivened the time by
singing "Tipperary" and other popular songs, punctuated
occasionally by a cheer from those who were there to bid them good-bye. A
finer lot of young men than these never left the city or the west. Every
one of them is leaving the best of homes and the most comfortable surroundings
at the call of duty.
Included in the list of Edmonton boys is the name of Reginald Henry, son
of Mayor Henry, and E. F. Edwards, son of Col Edwards. They are in charge of
Lieut. Fife, who was on the staff of the University. The following were the
Edmonton boys to leave Saturday: Lieut. Fife, David Mitchell, Herbert
McLeod, Reginald Henry, L. H. Crawford, E. F. Edwards, J. B. McCubbin, C. G.
Mundy, T. E. Corbett, C. S. Corbett, John Shaw, L. E. German, R. W. McNaughton,
Herbert Shaw, Chalmers McKinnon, Pierre Lortie, Murdoch Campbell, Robt.
M. Martin, Chas. H .Baker, Harvey T .Beecroft, T. A. Sporr, and Geo. Skinner.

Linton, Duncan Atkinson, W. G. Soltau, W. G. Jewitt, A. C. Mills, J. H. Miller,

Next week another 13 or 15 men will go forward to join the same company at
