THIRTY YEAR AFTER REUNION

An interesting and unique New Years souvenir of the North West rebellion has been issued by the Winnipeg members of the old C company of the Ninetieth battalion and has been sent to about 30 members of that company who are still living but who have removed from Winnipeg. The souvenir reads as follows

1885-1915 “Thirty Years after the Winnipeg bunch of old C Company unit in wishing the rest of the boys a very happy and prosperous New Year

The message of gretting is signed by the following residents of Winnipeg

Major Walter A. Wilkes.

W.T. Creghton

James DowkerA.L. young

M.A. McCormick

George McGiffin

E.K. Campbell

Joseph M. Tees.

What strikes one as an extraordinary feature of this souvenir is that with the exception of two men. The where about of all the others are known and local members are in constant touch with them by correspondence.

The list of members of the old company include those killed in action at Fish Creek and Batoche. Those since deceased the two missing and those still living in various parts of the country is as follows.

All effort will me bade to arrange for a “Thirty Year After” reunion of all the living members of the old company to the held in Winnipeg about the time of Decoration Day, early in May, and already many have signified their desire and intention to be present.

The souvenir bears on its face the old crest of the Nintieth and the words “The Little Black Devils” the name by which the famous regiment was designated by the Indians. During the rebellion C. Company had the largest casualty list in the rebellion of all companies engaged, having three killed and seven wounded.
