Category B Men not needed now Board Informed

Word Sent to Exemption Tribunal from Calgary – Fifty more Cases disposed of

The Edmonton exemption tribunal has received official instructions from Ottawa through the cental office in Calray regarding category “B” men, in the following words, from Registrah Carson:

“I have received information from Ottawa that no more category “b” men are to be called for service until further instructions.”

In dealing with “b” men the local tribunal in instructed to either allow them exemption till November 1, or to disallow the exemption in which case the calmants are to be informed that at the present moment category B men are not needed, but that on receiving instructions the tribunal will issue an order for them to report when needed.

This, of course, is only interim instructions and category “b” men are cautioned against running away with the idea that they are no needed. They may not consider themselves free from duty. They are only free until instructions are received again regarding them, and until there is need for them.

Below is a list of claims for exemptions dealt with Tuesday by the local tribunal. There are 55 in all and out of these 32 were disallowed. Of the disallowed the great majority of them are city of Edmonton cases:
