Edmonton Bulletin

Board Cannot Hear Men of Ages 20 to 22

Appeals of this class do not come before Edmonton Tribunal

Another fifty men came before the exemption tribunal at the session Tuesday morning and were disposed of after the same manner as those of Monday. Those who were regarded as bona fide farmers were give exemption till Nov. 1 as was also one threshing engineer expert. Several others were put on till July 1, and still others were disallowed entirely.

There were present several men, who had been called under the new regulation relating to those form 20 to 22 years of age. The tribunal had to tell them that their cases did no come before any tribunal and any claim that they might make could only be considered by the minister of militia. They were automatically in the army.

If they were bona fide farmers, they should carry evidence to that effect when they were reporting to the officer commanding M.D. 13 and they would be give 30 days seeding leave. Members of the tribunal stated that there was considerable misunderstanding over this and an appeal had been made to them for several young men in this class. Only the men over 22 were being tried before this tribunal they stated.

Those men before the tribunal and their disposition are here given:
