Men Released Pending Word From Military
Number of Cases of Young Men failing to report are Disposed of
“I have no word from Ottawa. I can’t get any answer from that place. He can leave his address with the police. He need not come unless he is sent for.” Declared Magistrate Primrose at the police court on Saturday morning when disposing of one of the cases against young men charged with failing to report as required by the Military Service Act. There were several such cases and similar remarks were made in each.
Some of these young men had been in the police cells and their cases adjourned from day to day waiting for reply from Ottawa before the magistrate could give his decision.
After court was over, the magistrate arranged for freedom and liberty being given to the young men in the meantime, and when replies are received from Ottawa they will be notified.
