Halifax N.S. July 5, 1918 – At last nights meeting of the city council Alderman Gillies read an extract from a cable from Ireland to America stating that the commander of the German submarine which sank the Liandovery Castie has said he had done so because of receipt of information from Halifax that she was carrying aviation officers.

Percy Richards was one of the victims on the Liandivery Castle, Percy homesteaded here in the early days. Afterwards residing in Mannville and later taking up an appointment in the sheriff’s office, Edmonton, joining the Army Medical coprs, two years ago. The greatest sympathy is felt for Mrs. Richards and family, still residing in Edmonton.
