Prominent Young Men in City Enlisted for Service Overseas In Universities Tank Battalion

 

Contingent of Eighteen Secured in Enlistments at University of Alberta – Will be Headed by Lieut. Burt and Lieut. George H. Steer – W.R. Howson, Barrister, Also in Party.

 

Eighteen recruits have been received at the University of Alberta for the tank battalion which is being raised by Canadian universities for immediate service overseas. The contingent will leave the city on Friday morning over the G.T.P. and will proceed direct to Ottawa.

 

On Thursday night they will be banquetted by the students at the University.

 

The Ret includes a number of well known young men and is headed by Lieut. A.L. Burt and Lieut. George H. Steer. Included in the party is Will R. Howson, a promising young barrister of the city. Rev. Thos. Marsden, who is lecturer in history at the University, and C.J. Spratt, teacher at the vocational school in connection with the Military Convalescent Home. The full list is as follows.
