Prisoner Throws Pepper in Guard’s Face and Escapes
Paris, June 12 – As Joseph Caillaux, the former premier, was being brought from the Sante prison yesterday to testify before Captain Bouchardon, who is investigating the charge of treason against Cauillaux, escorted by a guard was Alexander Loydan, charged with burglary. Loydan threw a handful of pepper into the face of the guard, ran past Caillauz and escaped into the street. He is still at large. The former premier seemed to be greatly amused by the performance of his fellow prisoner.
