75 Charter Members Enrolled As Foundation of Service Societies

COMMUNITY WORK IS PRIMARY OBJECT

Representative Men From Many Occupations Are Actively Interested

With a full attendance the new Kiwanis Club of Calgary was launched on its career at a very successful luncheon in the private dining room of the Hudson's Bay at noon Thursday. The roll of the 75 charter members was called, practically all answering present, and committees to draft by-laws and to bring in nominations for permanent officers were named. J. M. Gibson, temporary chairman, presided over the meeting, with A. J. Davis, as temporary secretary.
Mr. Gibson briefly outlined the purpose of the new club which, as set forth in the outline of its tenets in The Herald yesterday, are to promote fellowship among business and professional men and increase individual efficiency as well as broadening acquaintanceship in community work.
Further announcements of plans and meetings of the new club will be made later. The list of charter members is as follows:
