The opening of the season of social activities of the
officer's mess of the 1st Battalian, Edmonton Regt. (49th Batt., C.E.F.) was
celebrated on Wednesday night at the Prince of Wales Armory when mess night was
held at which the ladies were present. Covers were laid for 64. Capt. G. K.
Kinnaird and Lieut. A. C. L. Adams, president and vice-president of the mess,
occupied the executive chairs. The tables presented a very striking appearance
with the regimental plate and trophies garnished with a profusion of
scarlet carnations. The royal toast having been duly honored and the covers
removed, the remainder of the evening was given over to dancing, with extra
guests coming in later. The regimental orchestra of the battalion provided
excellent music.
