Nurses at Medicine Hat Hospital Hold Graduate Exercises

MEDICINE HAT, May 2.-- Fifteen hundred people packed the aisles and seats of
Fifth avenue church here Thursday on the occasion of the twenty-sixth annual
graduation exercises of the Medicine Hat General hospital. Presentation of
diplomas was made by J. C. Beveridge, president of the board of directors of
the hospital. After receiving their diploma each graduate was the recipient of
a badge from Miss Edna Auger, superintendent of nurses at the home institution.
Members of the graduating class included: Annabelle Carelton, Cabri, Sask.;
Frances I. M. Ireland, Medicine Hat; Beulah Evjen, Abbey, Sask.; Janet C.
Robertson, Lanarkshire, Scotland; Cora Ione Stephens, Cabri, Sask.; Mathilde M.
Maschke, Abbey, Sask.; Agnes Muir McLeod, Medicine Hat; Julia Irene Jorgenson,
Cabri, Sask.; Mary Alice Jenkins, Pashley, Alta.; Edith Vivian Ross, Medicine
Hat; Wilhelmina M. Reijse, Lethbridge; Jeannette J. Herrington, Winnifred, Alta.;
Alice Elizabeth Allan, Medicine Hat.
Addresses were given by J. C. Beveridge; Dean Howes, of the University of
Alberta; Dr. McCharles, Mayor Bullivant and Rev. Mr. Scragg, minister of Fifth
avenue church.
Special prizes were presented by Mayor Bullivant to the following: Miss Janet
C. Robertson, highest marks this year; Miss Jorgenson, Dr. Gershaw prize for
obstetrical nursing; Miss Janet C. Robertson, gold medal for surgical nursing;
Miss A. Carelton, prize by board of directors for conduct and general
efficiency; Miss Ryerson, intermed-
