VETERANS OF 85 PLAN TO ATTEND CAIRN UNVEILING

 

Ceremony of unveiling the cairn to General Strange, leader of the column that marched to Edmonton in 1885 to defend the town against a threatened Indian raid will be attended by many surviving veterans of that expedition, stated Harold W. Riley, secretary of the Southern Alberta Old-Timers’ and Pioneers Association, Tuesday. Date of the Unveiling at Edmonton is October 6, 1932.

 

The cairn has been erected by the Historical Sites and Monuments Board of Canada. Judge Howey of New Westminister, B.C. will act as chairman.

 

Veterans of the expedition and of other encounters during the Rebellion of 85 living in Southern Alberta and adjacent are
