Red Deer Schools
RED DEER, Sept. 22.-- The Red Deer high school and the
three public schools are getting back into the regular routine of school work
after the long holiday and classes have been organized for the coming term.
There are 691 students in attendance in the four schools, which sets a new high
mark for the opening. These figures will likely be brought to over the 700 mark
within a short time as late comers begin.
Enrolment in the high school was 235 for the first day which exceeds the total
registered on opening day in 1932, with 50 students from outside of Red Deer.
The high school staff this term is: Principal, R. L. Whitney; D. C. Dandell, A.
Allen, F. E. L. Priestley, Miss Colwell, Miss Beattie, Mrs. H. M. Aylesworth.
In the public schools, central, south and north Red Deer, registrations for the
first day were 456, this figure was seven higher than opening day in 1932.
Staff of the Central public school is: Principal, J. Welsh; C. Gaskell, Miss
Hopkins, Mrs. V. Allan, Miss M. Peden, Miss Lillian Carscadden, Miss Eleanor
McMurty, Miss Isabel Murray and Miss Nancy Stephenson, North Red Deer; Miss Flo
Gaetz, South Red Deer; Miss Mary Graham, Mrs. Maveety.
