| INTRODUCTION Unlike many plantations, slave trading posts, blocks, and markets were very temporary landmarks only evidenced by paper records and local histories. Nonetheless, knowing the locations of these places can be crucial in Afrikan slave genealogical research. When we request historical accounts from our Elders, they often remember names of places, but not necessarily geographical locations. They may even mention where an ancestor was "taken to market". This database is a project devoted to documenting the trading posts and providing the researcher with information on shipping ports as well. SUBMIT
