Lifelong
Alaskan Edward Roy "Sonny" Hoffman, 67, died July 20,
2010, in Bethel due to a work-related accident.
Sonny
was born Nov. 7, 1942, to Chief Edward Hoffman and wife, Bessie
(Chief) Hoffman in Bethel.
His
favorite activities were flying his plane, hunting, going to traditional
fish and moose camps and most of all, visiting with friends and
family.
Because
of his open and loving nature, love and admiration were returned
to him by his wife of 47 years, Bertha, his children and his grandchildren.
His sparkling eyes and beautiful smile were a gift to all. Sonny's
loving wave to everyone he passed on the road will be missed.
"We
will continue his legacy of heartfelt friendliness to everyone,"
his family wrote.
Sonny
was preceded in death by his loving parents; grandparents, George
and Elizabeth (Lind) Hoffman, Sally Chief Samuelson and Paul Chief;
son, Edward "Gookie" Hoffman III; and father-in-law, Tom
Kinegak.
Sonny
is survived by the love of his life, Bertha Kinegak Hoffman; children,
Darold "Bugs" Hoffman and Robyn and her husband, Randy
Turner; brothers, Stanley, Robert and his wife, Jesslyn, Richard,
Greg and his wife, Irene; sisters, Anita Gertz and Sally Charles;
grandchildren, Alyson "Sunni," B.J., Heidi, Casey, Ryan,
Randy Jr. and Reena; aunt, Lucille (Hoffman) Griffin; aunt Carrie
and uncle Bob Hauser of Tucson, Ariz.; mother-in-law, Maggie Kinegak;
and a large extended family too numerous to mention.
For
information regarding the visitation, please call Legacy Funeral
Homes, Kehl's Chapel, 344-1497. Sonny's service and final resting
place will be in Bethel at a later date.
In
lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the
Bethel Senior Center, 127 Atsaq St., Bethel 99559.
