Nelsons celebrate 50 years

James and Ruth Nelson will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17 in a celebratory Mass at St. Paul's Catholic Church. A reception will follow from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Family and friends are invited to attend.

The couple was married Feb. 14, 1957, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Sitka. They moved to Juneau in April 1957. They operated The Nugget Shop in Juneau from 1963 to 1973. Jim worked for ABG Bus Lines for 35 years, while Ruth was a homemaker.

The couple has four children: Margaret Nelson and her husband, Brad Campbell, of Anchorage, Lucy Nelson and her husband, JohnWright, of Juneau, Jim Nelson and his wife, Anna, of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Ruth Nelson and her husband, Aaron Wright, of Juneau; five grandchildren, Angela, Holly, Nick, Parker and Taryn; and six grandpuppies, Walker, Regan, Rose, James, Winnie and Roxie.

Their children, spouses, grandchildren and extended family will be in town to celebrate the anniversary.
