  • Kenai Pennsula Death Records and Cemetery Inscriptions (no date)
  • Palmer Pioneer Cemetery Index (no date)
  • Anchorage Times Obits 1980-1995
  • Alaska Diaries of Orvillle George Herning of Knik, Wasilla & Other Related Matters 1868-1947 . Transcribed by Louise Potter.
(George Herning was a local store keeper and general entrepreneur. The diary mentions who came to the store, what was going on, who traveled where, & his activities around the valley. There is also a Map dated 1906 that he copyrighted BUT it has not yet been located. There is a partial index of people mentioned in the diaries. Any requests to look up in this would have to be by name or very date specific.)
  • Valley Pioneer 1936, and
  • Valley Settler 1937-1952 and
  • Valley Record 1951-1954

These are weekly newsletters/papers published by the Matanuska Valley Farmer's Coop. Like many small papers, they mention names as often as they can. There are obits as well. Local "newsy" items, who visited who, who was burned out, local ads, etc. THERE IS NO INDEX they run 4-9 legal size sheets per week. Any research request would have to be fairly date specific. They look like memograph and are on poor quality paper.

Also there is a March 1937 map showing owner names of each parcel of land from Wasilla to north of Palmer down to the hay flats.

Dave has kindly offered to help with the materials at the left, which are located in the Palmer Library. Please note that some of these have no index and you would have to be very time specific for him to be able to help you.
