MUSTER ROLL of Captain George Rives’ Company of the 1st Battalion, 15^th Brigade of the Alabama Militia, commanded by Major Samuel D. Holt, ordered into service of the State of Alabama by C. C. Clay, Governor thereof from the 15^th day of May to the 7^th day of June 1836.  This Company was ordered into service as a vanguard to hold the enemy (Creeks) in check until other forces were brought into the field.

I certify on honour that this Muster Roll exhibits the true state of Captain George Rives’ Company of Cossawda Volunteers for the period herein mentioned.  That the remarks set opposite the names of each officer and soldier are correct and just.

I certify on honour that this company was mustered on the 15^th and marched from Montgomery, Alabama on the 15^th of May 1836, and were on duty at Tuskegee and in the Creek Country until the 7^th of June 1836, when they returned to Montgomery, and were discharged by Governor Clay.

 

This Company was known as the Coosawda Volunteers and belonged to the Battalion designated as the 1^st Battalion of Light Infantry and Rifles, 6^th Division, A. M.
