9-9-99 Looking for information for the following: Residence was White Plains, Alabama, Calhoun County. My Grandfather on my fathers side: William Jefferson SMITH married: Mary PENDERGRASS (Maybe from: Tennessee). Had four sons: William Terry SMITH (My Father), Gordon Howard SMITH (uncle), James Houston SMITH (uncle)
Question: My Great Grandfather came from either North Carolina or Virginia, and owned a plantation there prior to the civil war. I haven't found information that can be confirmed, just hand me down stories. Apparently, two former slaves followed my Great Grandfather to Alabama.(John and Sarah SAMPLES) My Grandmother, Mary PENDERGRASS was related I think to Emma SANSOM, of Gadsden, Alabama. From stories, she originally came from Copper Hill, Tennessee. http://www.myfamily.com http://www.myfamily.com
