DUCKETT, MCELRATH posted by James H. Duckett on Saturday, July 28, 2001

Between 1843 and 1847 John DUCKETT and family, Melissa, Sarah, Mary A. and Elizabeth became members of the Mt. Pisgah Church of old Benton County, AL located near Piedmont. The church later became Shady Grove Church The church records show that John DUCKETT died in June 1845. Sarah DUCKETT later shows up on the 1850 census residing in the household of the William McELRATH family in Cherokee Co., AL and her year of birth was computed to be 1825 and place of birth as TN. I would be deeply grateful for any information on any member of this DUCKETT family since this church record is the only record available to trace this family . I would also like to know if the Shady Grove Church is still active and if John DUCKETT is possibly buried in a cemetery at this church . James H. Duckett jaydee1@bellsouth.net
